Projects: Dye Sublimation

Dye Sublimation, also called thermal image transferring, is the process of transferring graphics into the surface of another solid material. The process is created by utilizing digital graphics. From those graphics, an ink transfer plate is created. That plate, along with the solid material being transferred into, are heated and compressed under a vacuum. This transfers the graphics from the plate to the material.

R.D. Wing Co., Inc. has a history of creating new cutting edge products out of Corian®; Dye Sublimation is no exception. Although we can Dye Sublimate into many different materials, we have found Corian® to be the best medium to work with. Some of the benefits of Dye Sublimating in Corian® are its thermoforming capabilities, the extensive color palette, and the ease of maintaining it; just to name a few. Combining sophisticated software, outstanding graphics capabilities, and state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, Dye Sublimation can be produced in a single image in sizes ranging from the size of a coin up to 5’ x 10’ without panelizing. However, should the “Panelized” approach be used, we can take a single image and make each panel a part of a much larger image, even an entire wall or corridor. Through the input from designers and architects we have created a completely customizable process that works in nearly any market segment.

The following actual projects will illustrate how the process works including the final installed applications.
